Apple will not use its own VR headset to create a “meta-universe”
The company does not apply this term and wants to create a device only for entertainment and communication.
The idea of a completely virtual world, into which users can “escape” with VR-devices, is prohibited in Apple, writes Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, citing sources. His words are cited by 9to5.
Apple plans to use the mixed reality headset for gaming, communication and content consumption. It will not be a device that can be used all day, the sources added.
The company could introduce the headset as early as 2022. The device could include three displays and be priced around $3,000, according to the publication.
In September 2021, The Information, citing sources, reported that Apple’s VR headset would require a connection to an iPhone or other company device for full functionality.
